I often go to the cinema.
I usually go to church on sunday.

` Upper floor ` is right.

Sometimes we might as well say ` I often go to the movies. `
But that doesn`t mean I go to a particular movie. It juz means that I often go to watch movies at the cinema.

It`s juz for ur reference. Don`t pick my answer.

I'm not very sure of the grammatical explanation, but I think you don't need 'the' in the second case because it's more general

a few other common usages that do not require 'the'
I go to school every day. (not to the school)
I go to class every day.

sorry it probably isn't of much help
