I am trying to find the best hospital for surgery on newborns with birth defects...possibly one that works with Americans regularly. I am US military and my baby will need surgery for Gastroschisis when he is born. The Army will not fly me back, so I am looking for a good German hospital. Does anyone know one that specializes in this? Thank you!

i think it depends on the area you wanna go to.for example the charite´in berlin,it is a huge hospital and a lot of specific docs are working there.what i can also recommend is in munich. there you can find the uni clinic Klinikum grosshadern or another hospital Klinikum harlaching.

The Klinikum Minden has a very good children-hospital too. But sorry, they help every baby and also babys born before time. But I dont know, what Gastroschisis is.

I would recommend the "Kinderspital" in Zurich/Switzerland - the diagnosis "Gastroschisis" is even mentioned on their homepage. As there are many English speakers in Switzerland, I'm sure you will get perfect service - although it will really cost a lot.
Das Kinderspital in Zürich (der Universität angeschlossen) ist bestens ausgerüstet und hat die genannte Diagnose auch auf der Webseite erklärt.

why are you not going to the military hospital? i am german but married to an american. when our daughter was born she got infected with staphylococcus. we went to the horst-schnitt- klinik in wiesbaden. they have a special infant section.

In Landstuhl give it a american militär hospital. My boyfriend was working there. is it by Ramstein.
