從一個旁觀者而非追隨者的角度來看「潮流」, 值得留意的是在歷史的洪流之中, 究竟有過甚麼東西曾經踏進過一或是走出了所謂「潮流」的領域. 例如黃金就是因為它本質上不會生鏽的特性, 當然還有它的罕有所帶來的價值, 使得它得而自古時便已一直被追捧並視為一個使人嚮往的地位象徵.
