其實英文文法書都有特特題到這兩個的分別。其實還有一對little 和 a little
回到你的問題
few 同a few都解作少,但a few 是指雖然少,但還有幾個;但few 則指少到幾乎沒有。
little 同a little 的分別也是一樣
至於few同 little的分別是little用在不可數的物件上,而few則用在可數的物件上。

所以下次,你見到few時,你可譯作近乎沒有;而見到a few可譯作幾個

a few 指小數目,或者說話人所認床的小數目
eg: Only a few of our customers have accouts. (我們的顧客中只有少數是記帳的)

few 意思為很少或沒有,幾乎具有否定的意義.
eg: Few towns have such splendid trees. (很少城市有這麼好看的樹木)


few這種用法主要限於書面語,可能由於會話中用few容易被誤認為是a few.

a few係數到既

few=not many同埋係negative既
例:Few people like working very hard till mid-night

few:

1. 很少數的;幾乎沒有的
There are fewer boys than girls in my class.
我班上男生比女生少。
There were few people in the streets.
街上人很少。
2. (與a連用)有些,幾個[Z]
He has a few friends in this city.
他在這個城市裡有幾個朋友。
