http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/grammar/g_quote.html
http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/grammar/g_hyphen.html
不宜將中文標點符號的用法用在英文寫作上,所以,看英文網頁吧,你在美國上課,應該不用翻譯給你了。

● independent clause和dependent clause如何定義
independent clause 的定義
Independent Clause (IC)
An independent clause is a group of words that contains a subject and verb and expresses a complete thought. An independent clause is a sentence.

例::Jim studied in the Sweet Shop for his chemistry quiz. (IC)

dependent clause 的定義
Dependent Clause (DC)
A dependent clause is a group of words that contains a subject and verb but does not express a complete thought. A dependent clause cannot be a sentence. Often a dependent clause is marked by a dependent marker word.

例:When Jim studied in the Sweet Shop for his chemistry quiz . . . (DC)
(What happened when he studied? The thought is incomplete.)

http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/grammar/g_clause.html這網頁對 independent clause 和 dependent clause 解釋的很清楚,還有一些標點符號的用法,很棒,網頁不長,只有兩頁,強力推薦。
