any one can tell me whats the strict rules about the photos u need for the german passport? (english answers please)

well, im not from england, and any one know where i can find some gov document that say the rules?

At first, my english is not very good, I hope you will understand me!
- Your Photo must have the size 35mm x 45mm
- not older than 6 month
- your face have to be clear, sharp and clean
- the background has to be grey
- dont laugh and close your mouth
and look into the camera

Yor picture has to be biometric. So your Mouth has to be closed and you are not supposed to laugh. Your face has to be in the middle of the picture.
Well I think you have the same rules in England, don´t you?

you're not supposed to wear a hat or have too much hair in your face.. i think you even have to put it behind your ears. sunglasses etc are forbidden too of course... can't think of more right now, but there are signs in these photo-maschines..

All the people who answered are correct, but there is one fact, that is very important: It has to match exactly, if the person at the airport puts a grit over it. It must be a biometrical photo, that's the description for the kind of photo that has to fit that grit.

actually the most important thing is that you've to wear a black beard under your nose to show that you're really german :)

For the passport you need a normal photo and for the traveling passport you need a biometrycal photo.
