First, listen to spanish, (by the way i m from spain, live in london for 15 years and the accent is the last thing you picking up when learning a language), if you d like an spanish accent, listen to spanish film and music, no south american cause the accent is different , same diference that english from england and english from american, english speakers will understand each other but their accent are diferent and some of the worls too.
Some phonetic is necesary, so when you learn this well you will be able them to focus on the accent, but at the beginning just to try to say it will be dificult enough.
As i said my experience, accent is the last thing you ll learn in a language, cause your effords at first will be focus on grammar, vocabulary, and dont forget when you are lisening to another language you are too focus in understanding when your turn to speak come you prob wont know what to say, cause your time of thinking while in your language is simultaneous, when you speak another language this will take a while, ... your brain will be translating what the other person is saying while in your language you will be thinking the anwser.
Patience, lost of time, IQ, real imput, and constant will help you to speak the language, and get the accent. Cant be frustrating at first but is really fullfilling at the end.
Good luck
Buena suerte

I'm an English teacher here in Argentina, degreed in phonology.
The study of the sounds in a language is very impotant and you have to deliver several hours a day to get it. You can´t learn it through a forum in the internet. If you are not willing to spend two or three hours a day studying, forget it.
If you are really interested in learning the spanish sounds, you should get a spanish teacher so that you can be tested everyday.
Fond regards
Fernando
