以下句子《 John will have been studying for two hours by the time his mother gets home.》很明顯看出是未來完成進行式，請問『by the time』的意思與功用？

*其實大家都回的很好了, 而且也講得很清楚, 但是都沒有提到, by the time 在這個句子裡的功用是當連接詞用, 整個時間片語by the time 是拿來當連接詞用,  John will have been studying for two hours by the time his mother gets home.*左邊是S + V , 右邊也是 S + V, 中間當然以 連接詞功用的 by the time 來連接, 句子當然也可以改成==> By the time his(John's) mother gets home, John(he) will have been studying for two hours.  醬的句子, 可以明顯分出強調的主要子句(John will have been studying for two hours). 和附屬子句 (By the time his mother gets home) 以上請參考.

個人覺得by the time應該是"在...之前"唷
整句話的翻譯是
在他媽媽回來之前..john將會已經讀書讀了兩個小時了
之所以用未來完成進行式
表示他的動作還會持續下去到未來的某一個時間點

《 John will have been studying for two hours by the time his mother gets home.》-----句子意思：等他媽會到家，John 就已經唸了兩個小時的書了（而且還會繼續讀下去）by the time: 到那時候這是"未來完成進行式"：will have been + V-ing表示"在未來的某一點時間時，某件事就已經完成到某種程度，而且還會繼續進行"．
