Para saber, basta usar a lei distributiva.
Num exemplo:
(x+y)(x-6) = xx + yx -x6 -y6 = x(elevado ao quadrado) + xy -6x -6y

x²-6abx+9x+yx-6aby+9y+7abx-42a²b²+63ab+8x-48a²b²+63ab+8x-48ab+72
= 78ab+abx+xy-6aby-90a²b²+x²+25x+9y+72

x^2 - 6abx + 9x + xy - 6aby + 9y + 7abx - 42a^2b^2 + 63ab + 8x - 48ab + 72
Desenvolvendo, teremos:
x^2 + abx + 17x + xy - 6aby + 9y - 42a^2b^2 + 15ab +72
Acho que é isso... rsrs
