I understand that the spanish I speak with Latinos in the united states is different in pronounciation than the spanish spoken in spain. Am I right? I would love to visit spain, its my dream. Could you help me with how woprds are pronounced in spain? For example. Azul is pronounced athul. correct? any help yopu could give me would be great. Muchisimo Gracias por tu ayuda

Don´t worry about the pronunciation, spanish speakers ( from all over the world) we are quite happy every time that we met someone who tries to speak our language. And we are quite good trying to understand what people says in our language.
And If you come to my country you would realize how is our pronunciaton.
Anyway, our pronunciation it is a bit stronger than the Latinos.
The same as the British.

I'ts pretty much like english from England and english from USA or from Caribean.
It doesn't really matters, always when other people can get what you mean, like somebody from NY having a conversation with somebody from London, it's OK, they get each other, at the end, is not that different.

you must know that speaking is different in different countries. also there are words which mean something in Spain and they have different meanings in Argentina. Im from argentina. let me know if you need any help about my country.

The letter (Z) classic spanish pronounciation is like that one of (TH) in the word BOTH; there are some regions where it´s pronouncation is a little different. Therefore your example: "Azul"l pronouced "athul" would be correct.

Diferencias principales:
"Seseo": las consonantes "S" y "Z" (y la "C" cuando está antes de "e" o "i") tienen el mismo sonido. En España se diferencian la "Z" de la "S".
"Sustitución de la 2º persona del plural ('vosotros' por 'ustedes')"
En algunos países, uso del "voseo" (2º persona del singular reemplazada 'tú' por 'vos'.

bueno escribire todo en español, asi practicaras la lectura y mi inglés escrito no es precisamente excelente.
El español o castellano, son muy diferentes dependiendo de donde se habla, incluso en latinoamerica hay expresiones muy variadas dependiendo la ubicacione geografica. En españa (spain) hay modismos locales unicos y pronunciaciones muy diferentes. La "z" en españa la pronuncian con la lengua entre los dientes. pero ademas de eso no hay mucha variedad gramatical, solo tienes q acostumbrar tu oido y saber una cosita: españa es un lugar turistico y basa su economia en ello, la mayoria de los lugares a los que vayas vas a encontrar traducciones en ingles y españoles que sepan hablar inglesl. Close, but not exact. Azul is no athul, because the English "th" is softer that Spanish "z"...
"Z" is like trying to pronounce the "s" but with the tongue between the teeth...
Of course, there are variations all over the spanish speaking countries, as well as with English in USA, UK, Canada... is "not exactly" the same...
The best you can do is travel.
But if you can´t, talk with someone, or listen to songs (with the lirycs in your hand, so you can read what they say) or watching movies with the original audio and a Spanish subtitles (DVD advantages). You may be not understand the movie, but it will be useful to learn the correct pronunciation.
