The song is built around a sample of "Aye Naujawan Hai Sab Kuchchyahan" originally performed by Indian singer Asha Bhosle. The song also uses a vocal interpolation of "I Wonder If I Take You Home" originally performed by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. In this exotic, but "phunky" jam, will.i.am, Apl.de.ap, and Taboo express their romantic interests in how much they enjoy Fergie's company. Fergie, however, is not convinced; although she likes them, she is feeling insecure, and wonders if she takes them home, if they'll still be in love with her. The men try to reassure her that they do love her, and that don't just want sex. Fergie is not buying it, and is cautious as she warns them, "No, no, no, no....don't phunk with my heart!"Of much debate, is what exactly the "phunk" in "Don't Phunk with My Heart" stands for. Whatever the true reasons are behind the word "phunk", the ambiguous nature of the word caused a bit of controversy, causing some radio stations to play an edited version of the song called "Don't Mess with My Heart" instead.A probable meaning of "phunk" may refer to doing injustice, since "funk" has an alternative negative meaning. 那"phunk" 其實不是個英文單字~~因為字典根本就查不到
意思大概就是 play (別玩弄我的心)
