tongue這個字的一些片語很好用,可以運用在你所說的欲言又止的語句中:She wanted to tell me the truth, but it was just on the tip of her tongue (and was held back).She wanted to tell me the truth but couldn't get her tongue around it (but couldn't find her tongue.)She bit her tongue even though she would like to say something.另外列出一些我覺得也可以的寫法:She was struck dumb despite her willingness / eagerness to say something.He choked back (swallowed up) his words despite his willingness / eagerness to say something.Her heart is willing, but her words just don't come out.

get in the way 就是指有障礙物擋在路上的意思. 而 words get in the way 則是要說的話擋在路上, 要說又說不出來. 欲言又止的意思.
