(I do this all the time...in many cities in the US or UK, there are usually several bars in the same block or same neighborhood, they are close to each other in walking distance. Therefore, you can have a drink with some friends in one bar, then walk to another to drink more....then another....this is called 'bar-hopping!"

took/take out: to remove something from somewhere
(I guess it means they removed the full page ad from the local newspaper because they decided to do something different--posting fliers with photos.
