Real variable
When a variable is adjusted for the dollar’s changing value，it is called a real variable.

Private investment corresponds only roughly to the increase in the nation’s capital stock. Because changes in the nation’s capital stock are somewhat more complicated than we are able to capture with private investment alone.

名目變數：當某一個變數經過依段很長的時間都沒有根據美元的價值調整時，這個變數便稱為「名目變數」。實質變數：當一個變數隨著美元的價值變動而調整者，便稱為「實質變數」。民間投資的總和大致與該國的資本公積(capital stock)的增加金額相當。由於一國的資本公積的變化原因，多多少少比估算民間投資金額更為複雜。
