黃建育／綜合報導美國語言學家指出，英文字彙的數目可能會在今年夏天打破百萬大關，而第一百萬個字很可能就是中式英文(Chinglish)。

哈佛大學畢業的語言學家保羅．帕雅克多年來一直在研究英文字彙增加的情況。他表示，英文字彙由於不斷大量混雜其他外語的字詞，目前已多達九十八萬六千一百二十個。

帕雅克指出，照目前速度發展下去，今夏很可能會打破百萬大關，也證實英文在全球語言次序中獨霸地位。

新添加的英文字當中，有許多是中式英文。例如原意是「喝茶」的「drinktea」現在代表店家打烊休息。相反的，店家開業的中式表達方式 to run business 現在也結合成一個新的英文字「torunbusiness」。

英國《周日泰晤士報》五日報導，這些中式英文聽在英國人耳裡別有一番趣味。不過有些卻讓人感到刺耳，例如北京公廁殘障人士使用的廁所是標明「deformedman 」(畸形人)。而香港(新聞、網站)人把男同性戀者稱為「kweerboy」也是。

目前任職加州聖地牙哥「全球語言觀測所」的帕雅克表示，該機構去年一年共收錄兩萬個英文新字，比幾年前多了一倍。由於新字當中多達二○％是中式英文，因此今夏第一百萬個英文字可能就是中式英文。

除中式英文外，英文字彙也收錄了參雜約六十種其他外語新字，例如「西班牙式英文」、「日式英文」及「印度式英文」。而這些外來語大量出現的主因是近年來網路的蓬勃發展。

Not much! Some dictionary put the word "Singlish" in, but not "Chinglish".

Anyway, Chinglish is not something correct! It don't have the research value!

What do you mean by "正式英文字"? If you mean "to put it in a dictionary", there is a system!
First, there is a need and many people will need this word. If you put the word
"1-Methyl-4-phenylpiperidine-4-carboxylic acid" (1-甲基-4-苯基啶-4-羧酸), no one need this~
Second, it in not only a new word, it is a new word that people will continue using it. For example, "bikini oil", (sun oil).
