Osama bin Laden 當然是從阿拉伯文翻譯過來的。bin Laden = of Laden 等於說 Osama是Laden家族的一員。像英國或法國也有很多 O'Nell, O'名字的 原意都是 誰誰誰的兒子。像中文把它翻成賓拉登，其實不是很好的示範。因為 Laden家族成員有幾十幾百個，哪一個才是他們要的「重犯」？或許是Osama 或許是 Mohd? 或許是Sayeed? 阿拉伯譯名，應該要把 first name 寫出來。他們有個很有趣的命名方式。 例如你姓林 單名 叫 為 那你的兒子 你取名 叫 大 ，那麼你兒子的名字的寫法就是 大 為 林。如果有孫子 叫 肯，那你孫子的名字的寫法就是： 肯 大 為 林。 名字這麼長，不必時時都寫全名。所以就可以寫成 肯 bin 林。表示 中間有隔了好幾代的爸爺祖...省去了。
