SAMPLE AUTOBIOGRAPHY
Throughout my high school career I was drawn to the financial services field. As early as 9th grade I chose elective classes related to math and accounting. In my sophomore year of high school I joined the Investment Club and at the end of my junior year I was selected to be the Club's Treasurer. During this time I also found a part-time job as an Office Assistant with Merrill Lynch. My work responsibilities allowed me to become familiar with the administrative functions associated with investment activities. By my senior year in high school my coursework, extracurricular activities and work experience had allowed me to realize that Finance was the college major I wanted to pursue.
The decision to attend Rutgers University to major in Finance was made over the course of many months. After speaking with teachers, guidance counselors, and family members I decided to visit several colleges. After spending a weekend at Rutgers I knew it was the place for me. I felt comfortable with the campus and confident that the School of Business Administration would prepare me well for my career path.
While at Rutgers I chose to become involved with campus activities, internships and part-time jobs that supported my career interests. Involvement with the Little Investment Bankers of Rutgers and completing an internship with JP Morgan during my upperclass years helped me to further strengthen my quantitative and finance skills. Performing volunteer work in the community allowed me to develop strong communication and interpersonal relations skills. I believe combination of these skills will help me to contribute to the leadership of an organization in financial services. I look forward to the challenges that will allow me to apply my finance, accounting, and computer science background in a corporate environment.

The Marks of an Educated Man:
A question often ask is: “What are the marks of an educated man?” It is plain that one may gain no inconsiderable body of learning in some special field of knowledge without at the same time acquiring those habits and traits which are the marks of an educated gentleman. A reasonable of learning must of course accompany an education, but, after all, that amount need not be so very great in any one field. An education will make its mark and find its evidences in certain traits, characteristics, and capacities which have to be acquired by patient endeavor, by following good examples, and receiving wise discipline and sound instruction.
The outline may be filled in by scholarship, by literary power, by mechanical skills, by professional zeal and capacity, by business competence, or by social and political leadership. So long as the framework or outline is there, the content may be pretty much what you will, assuming, of course, that the fundamental elements of the great tradition which is civilization, and its outstanding records and achievements in human personality, in letters, in science, in the fine arts, and in human institution, are all present.
