I like the chair whose arms were broken.I like the chair which arms were broken.哪個比較正確,或者兩個都可以?我個人是覺得whose一定沒問題,但我認為which也行。

如果是我寫:而且是想表達我喜歡的是兩隻把手都斷掉的椅子,那我會寫成:I like the chair with broken arms. 或 I like the chair which has broken arms.  (雖然你是用 arms were broken 但我想很可能目前的把手還是斷掉的。)因為以您的第一句來說:I like the chair whose arms were broken.我會以為你是在講人! Chair也可以拿來當主席或主任。所以把這個句子翻成中文,我會認為你要說的是:我喜歡那個兩手都曾斷掉過的主任!(而且你是用arms were broken 表示現在應該已經不再斷手了...)至於第二句 I like the chair which arms were broken.則明顯文法不對。

要用whose
如果你把句子拆開來看,就會變成..
I like the chair.
The chair's arms were broken.
注意看第二句是the chair's也就是"椅子的"
是所有格,必須用whose
which是用來代替the chair
