The TRANS-OCEAN BRIDGE linking Paisha Island and Shiyu Island is the first sea-crossing bridge in the Far East. The original bridge was 2,159 meters long and 5.1 meters wide. It was built in 1970. However, because of the damage of the weather and the ocean tides, the bridge was rebuilt and opened to the public in 1996. The new bridge is 2,494 meters long and 13 meters wide. It adds great value to tourism and transportation.

Chungcheng Bridge, Yongan Bridge, Kuahei Bridge and Hsiaomen Bridge are all bridges connecting various islands of the main island of Penghu. These bridges are all constructed under extreme conditions and make special scenery. They are all considered architectural masterpieces of Penghu. ¡@ ¡@

Chungcheng Bridge connects the Penghu Island and the Chungtueng Island, which is then connected to Baisha by Yongan Bridge. These bridges were made to accommodate two-lane traffic. On the left hand side is the Dachang Island and Yuanbei Island stands on the right, forming a beautiful picture of hills and the sea. ¡@

Located between Baisha and Fishermen Islands, Kuahei Bridge crosses the Homen channel with high waves and strong currents. It was completed at the end of 1970. With the total length of 2478 meters, 319 of which are built on land and 2159 the bridge itself, it is the first deep sea bridge in the Fareast region. It is now under expansion to accommodate two-lane traffic in the future. The rainbow shaped gate at the beginning of the bridge is a beautiful symbol of this rainbow over the sea. Taking a stroll on the bridge to enjoy the breathtaking ocean view and listen to the waves breaking on the rocky shores is a great joy of life. ¡@ ¡@ ¡@

Between the Fishermen Island and Hsiaomen Island stands the Hsiaomen Bridge. It is nicknamed the "Little Kuanhei Bridge". With different landscapes on two sides of the bridge, it presents entirely another picture from the Kuahei Bridge.



* Sunrise at Kuolin and sunset at Hsiyu

The first light of the day scatters on the ocean and the orange sunset showers the land. Sunrise at Kuolin and sunset at Hsiyu are the two famous attractions of Penghu. Kuolin is located on the east tip of the Penghu Island and named after the crop of Kuoye trees in the village. At the break of dawn, the golden sun and bright sunshine rise above the Taiwan Straits to brighten the entire sky while the profile of the Central Mountains in Taiwan comes vaguely in the background. ¡@ ¡@

¦Hsiyu is the second largest island in Penghu. Most people think that the area around the Kuanyin Pavilion near Makung City provides the best angle to watch sunset. The second best spot is the Kuahei Bridge and Hsiyu's coast. At sunset, the sky is splashed with colorful rays. Sometimes you may spot a small boat passing by the sinking sun, whose remaining golden rays lingers on the waves to add an incredible colorful moment to nature.¡@ ¡@ ¡@ ¡@
