(too many) irons in the fire = 吃緊弄破碗指同事進行太多事情而無法兼顧，結果弄得一事無成。原意是指鐵匠一次放太多鐵塊到鎔爐裡，導致溫度不夠無法鑄成好的鐵器。例句： John had three part time jobs when he studied in the college.
