I need a day off tomorrow.
I am requesting a day off tomorrow.
May I have a day off tomorrow.
Give me a day off tomorrow.
I refuse to APPLY for a LEAVE, because that means that I am asking for many, many days off, like a MATERNITY LEAVE.

拜託,請假..不要用ask for leave,這是哪一國英文啊。也請不要用.."apply" for one day off。 用take "one" day off,而且最好用 "one" 不要用 "a"。

說到 要要求 a leave....
我第一個印象是... 你要辭職
通常說別人放假出外的話 可以用 "leave"這個詞
但是.... 如果要申請的話 最好不要用這個詞
可以用 "take a day off"

如果是告訴別人明天請假了
on leave
take leave
如果申請假期 = apply leave
I applied leave on this (coming) Friday.

I would like to have a day off tomorrow. (using "apply" is too formal, not necessay)
or
May I have a day off tomorrow?
2005-09-30 22:38:58 補充:
In the American world, we normarlly do not use "apply" for taking days off. We use "request" much more than "apply". We, Chinese, use "apply" because we have been trained to "respect" the superior. I seldom hear American use "apply" to request a day off.

Learning English does not has be fancy. Using "Request a day off" is good enough to make 99.99% of American understand what you are talking about. =)
