做作是一個口語化的用詞, 要是你用字典裡查到的, 美國當地人反而會因為意思陰錯陽差而會不過意來.
做作請用corny, 這是很適用於日常對話的講法. 可以用在形容過於肉麻, 大費周章, 或是老氣橫秋的等等的做作意味. 很實用的詞.
譬如: 她剛剛的在舞台上的表現真是有夠做作！
英譯: What she did on the stage was so corny!
有時候可以用cheesy, 是指有點差勁或是虛偽加上做作, 不自然的意味.
譬如: 這就職典禮還真是做作差勁啊
英譯: This inauguration ceremony is really cheesy!
