However, their are times when you shouldn't be completely honest because what you say might hurt your friend's feelings.      For example, imagine that your best friend tells you his parents are getting divorced. He is obviously upset by this even though you know his parents haven't been getting along well because he constantly complained about their fights and even joked about hoping they'd get a disvorce so he wounldn't have to listen to them anyomre. In this situation, reminding your friend of his earlier comments or pointing out that his parents will be happier apart isn't the right thing to do because at a time like this you're friend doesn't need you to tell him the harsh truth, he needs you to by sympathetic and supportive. It's even from his parents, so your job as his best friends is to try not to say or do anything unpleasant.    Another example could be if you're friend has bought something that she's really excited about. You might not agree that she's made a good choice or you might not like what she bought, but you don't need to spoil her enthusiasm by making a negative comment. Again, this is a time when you should keep quiet about your own opinion  so that your friend can be happy.   There are certain situations when it's okay not to tell the complete truth to your friends. You should never lie to your friends, but an important part of being a good friend is knowing when to be totally honest and when to keep silent because a truthful comment could do more harm than good.

I totally agree what he is saying.
Sometimes, your friends only thing need from you, it's your support.
They know the truth, but just don't want to face it.
Tell them the truth will not comfor them, make them happy.
Only thing you can do, show him/her how much you care about him/her.
