The direct medical cost assoicated with diabetes was $44 billion in 1997 and doubled to $92 billion in 2002.

與糖尿病有關的直接醫療成本從1997年的440億到2002年增加了一倍。

silentwf: 我也考慮過保留發問者用現在完成式來表達數字的「加倍」(has doubled)。後來還是決定用過去式"doubled",主要原因是因為「加倍」這個動作是數字達到兩倍那一剎那出現的。"double"和別的動詞不一樣,它不會在過去一段時間中「持續發生」,所以不能用完成式,不知以為然否?

這種費用增加的統計的確是持續發生的,不過因為時間點已經過去(2002),所以要用完程式也應該用過去完成式"had doubled",各位覺得呢?
