The difference between Taiwan and China

the supporting uniting the two:
1. mention that we are all chinese, world is gonna be ours if we unite.
2. the only way to improve both sides is to unite and fight the future together. ( from other countries invasion)

for dividing the two:
1. political stand is the big reason, everybody has the right to choose who they want to be , and everybody has a free mind, goverment should not control any of it.
2. china is going to bomb taiwan no matter what, why surrender?

about where you can find references:
i think if you can get some american newspaper or some issues of times, that's be good, search it a big, i am sure they talked about this in times a while ago.

here is some websites
http://newton.uor.edu/Departments&Programs/AsianStudiesDept/china-taiwan.html

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3680/is_199904/ai_n8827649

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/1782759.stm

also, when you search, search on english websites, not chinese ones, this way, it'd be easier for you to have the evidence and points in english already, don't have to worry about translating them.
one more thing, when you point some evidence out, make sure you mention in your debate that it comes from " XXX source" , it's more powerful that way.

Good
thing that i major in this

okay, so there are some evidence that you can present

San Francisco Treaty of Peace with Japan,
1951
Chapter II, Article 2, Item b: Japan
renounces all right, title and claim to Formosa
(Taiwan)
and the Pescadores. (Penghu)

note that the phrase "to China"
was never used here, because neither ROC nor PRC was in the conference.
Therefore, Taiwan is
lawfully not a part of China.

Also, try to mention that there is a significant difference culture-wise, and a
fundamental difference in terms of political systems.
