「博士」一詞實在很詭異，好像一冠上這個頭銜，所有的「好事」都會跟著來。首先得認識的一點是：這是個翻譯的名詞。我對其他地方沒研究，以美國的學制來說，有太多的doctor了，唸醫學的有medical doctor，唸法學的有juris doctor，看腳部毛病的podiatrist也是個doctor。一般來說，我們看到所謂的「博士」ph.d.是指普通學科研究所的最高學位，medical doctor跟juris doctor是指professional school的最高學位。另外有一類教育學位叫做ed.d.- educational doctor。我無意去詆毀任何人，但是ed.d.相較於ph.d., m.d., j.d.是真的好拿的多了。所以一些懂門道的公教人員都想走這條「捷徑」拿個博士，好對升遷有幫助。相較於教育部對j.d.的諸多限制（合不合理不與置評），它對ed.d.的放縱，不得不讓人聯想這就是「近親繁殖」的放水政策。我無意否定ed.d.也是得花功夫苦讀的才拿的到的，但是要給學子們一個清楚的認識。拿橘子去跟蘋果比，有點誤導觀眾，不是很好的作法。

Dr. 可解釋為醫生 或 博士(通稱)
ph.D 為哲學博士 Philosophiae Doctor (或 Doctor of Philosophy)
Dr. 若要詳細指名為醫生 可用Medical Doctor

一般統稱醫生或持有Ph.D.的人
Ph.D. = Doctor of Philosophy
