Of course some do, about one third in a very superficious sense, one third like Christian faith says (although a lot a bit different from bible-belt Christians in the USA), and one third does not.

Sure there are Germans who do, most of them are just not very devout anymore. And I don't think your question is inappropriate or something as I know many, especially young, Germans who refer to themselves as atheists (me included, although I'm originally from France), because they don't want to have anything to do with religion... and personally, I'd much rather interact with an atheist than a with a wannabe- Christian/ Muslim/ whatever who hasn't even read the bible and just declares himself as one because he's never questioned the whole thing about religions (something everyone should have done at least once in his life). I'm not talking about people here who really do believe in something as some of them are amazing dialogue partners.

Some do and some don't, same as everywhere in Europe and the rest of the world.
Also in Germany, the same as anywhere else in Europe that I know of, faith in god - or the lack thereof - is not a topic for polite conversation. We seem to have learned (from bitter experience) that it is best kept private and discussions about religion generally limited to consenting adults.
