I recently went to Italy and I loved it there. I can't stop thinking about how much fun I had and how nice the people were. I am trying to teach myself Italian but it's hard. What I want is to move to Italy but I know I won't fit in because I am not Italian I am American. Also I was not raised to be a Catholic. So I was just wondering what Italians would think about my dream. Would you not like me if I lived in Italy because I am American. Are Americans disliked in Italy. Would people be mad that I am not Catholic. Basicly, how do you feel about my dream.
Grazie ;)

I think you'd be welcomed. Doesn't matter which religion you choose but the person you are.
Italians are much more open minded than what you probably think they are.
I personally appreciate foreigners that like my country, It rather makes you proud.
So don't waste your time...try to make your dreams come true!

*****Per i moderatori ... scusateci, questo utente non parla italiano - rispondergli in italiano sarebbe stato poco gentile e come fare un buco nell'acqua*****

If you are really serious about that dream, you will get yourself down to your nearest branch of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura and enrol yourself for classes beginning next trimester. They're enrolling now. Do it. Otherwise, how can you expect Italians to take your dream seriously and accept you as part of their society. Let your actions speak louder than your words! Heart is right about the Church - don't worry about that, there are many secular Italians.
Buono studio!!! Ciao!

Well, _some_ Italians actually dislike America as a whole, but if you prove to be a nice guy on your own there won't be any problem. _Some_ Italians don't like foreigners on account that they might take away our jobs, homes and all that stuff, but the most of us reckon that for what it really is, i.e. plain nonsense.
Forget the thing about not being catholic: most Italians don't give a dam about religion nowadays.
In the end: stop puzzling over and give it a try : we're waiting for you :-)

I'm sure nobody here would make any problem if you're not catholic, most of us are not so into catholicism as you think...
but I think you should know that most of italians don't speak or understand english at all, so be sure to learn as much of italian as you can before you come.
Good luck!

(sorry for my terrible english, I know I've absolutely got to improve it!)
