Hi! If you like to listen some rock bands, try "noir désir", the best rock band in France ever!
In a more "classical" way, you should listen to Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Brel ; or Hubert-Felix Thiéfaine, the old albums of Renaud.
To forget (or to destroy): Johnny Hallyday, Michel Sardou.

some of my favourite bands for you :
eiffel (not eiffel65, be careful!!), noir desir (the best french band, ever...), luke, dionysos (some funny english-sounding songs and some of the greatest songs on earth...), miossec, têtes raides, gomm, and this is all i got now on my desk but i think this is a good start...
(oh and almost everything is indie rock so if you don't like one, just don't bother listening to the others...)
