I più famosi sono la televisione, il cinema, la radio, la stampa e internet.
Nel corso del XX secolo lo sviluppo e l'espansione capillare dei mass media seguirono il progresso scientifico e tecnologico.
Se inizialmente con mass media si faceva sostanzialmente riferimento a giornali, radio e televisione, alla fine del XX secolo si assiste alla prepotente affermazione di internet e del suo strumento tecnologico, il computer.
Attualmente in questo contesto, per alcuni, anche i telefoni cellulari sono da considerare strumenti di comunicazione di massa
i mass media sono molto importanti soprattutto attualmente e ormai senza di questi non potremmo vivere.
si deve pensare che sono un mezzo di socializzazione.
