To believe in God is an act of faith, therefore an emotional act, not a mental one.
When people have the possibility of studying something to discover the truth of a fact, they must apply their reasoning ability.
But when one is content to believe in something without using the critical faculty, one succumbs to one's own desire. Faith satisfies a childish wish. I do not believe in fairytails, so I don't believe in anything outside of nature.
