Outside forces in my opinion (banks and goverments from drug consuming countries) have certainly contributed to colombias conflict. Banks very gladly receive illegal money originated in drug traffic and remain silent about their owners. Goverments say that the drug problem is only colombians fault and fail to repress effectively consumption in their countries. Colombia is a third world poor country which has to deal with poverty, health issues and a civil war in the country, but a very great deal of its budget, instead of being aimed to solve these issues is aimed to fight the drug problem (and there is really so very little help from foreign countries). The necessary result, therefore, is that poverty generates more conflict, hatred and the need to try to look for means to survive (drugs). Its a vicious circle in which unfortunately, the powerful countries do not repress their banks nor have effective policies to repress consumption and accordingly, end up promoting more and more the drug problem, and of course, the conflict.
That why legalization together with effective antidrug campaigns, are the only hopes to solve the drug problem not only in Colombia, but everywhere.
