I am a Univeristy professor in computer science who only speaks a little Spanish. I would like to "retire" to Mexico. Can I find a job teaching at a University in English until I can speak Spanish?

Thanks in advance.

i think is better if you are bilingual. But if you, by example, come to Monterrey, Mexico, you will find a lot of private colleges who can hire you but it is important for you to speak a better spanish. In fact, i work in a private elementary school and there are three american teachers working there and they seem to be happy .

Hi im from Puerto Rico, Have you consider retire in Puerto Rico!!

Here are some advantages;

1. Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States, so you don't need a passaport or a visa to live here!!

2. Although Puerto Ricans are latins most of them speak english. The same thing happens with our colleges (im currently in University of Puerto Rico) wich is acredited by the middle states and all the other acredited insitutions. Im in biology and 1/2 of my lectures are in english (by american profesors) and most of my courses in spanish use english text books. Probably you won't need to make a big effort to get a license to teach here because most of our teachers study in the US. Think that you are moving to another state ...

3.You will moved to an island in the carribean where the temperature media is 80F, filled with white sand beaches,

4.If you get sick your US health care insurace is valid here, medicare is valid here, if you are e veteran we have US Veteran hospital. We even use the USPS

5. The food is safe, the policemen are honest, there is no socialism or riots....

check out this web site; https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/index.html

its made by the CIA and its a good start to learn about Puerto Rico!!! look for puerto rico in it.

ps there is a large community of americans that live here, most of them live in a place called rincon whos is 20 minutes away from my college Universidad de Puerto Rico Mayaguez Campus. Wich is also a top ranked school , characterized by being in the top 20 engeneering schools in the US!!
