Resolution
The resolution of a digital camera is measured in Megapixels (MP - millions of pixels), the number of dots that make up a digital image.
Maximum Print Size
up to 1 MP: email and web only
2MP: 5x7
3MP: 8x10
4MP and more: 20x30

Still Image Capture Resolution
The number of horizontal and vertical pixels used to capture an image. The higher the resolution the higher the detail of the image.
1600 X 1200: High quality: good for 8 X 10 Prints
1024 X 768: Medium quality: good for 5 X 7& 4 X 6 Prints
640 X 480: Poor quality: good for web and emailing only

Digital Zoom
Digital zoom uses a magnifying process called interpolation. Interpolation uses artificial enhancements by adding pixels which enlarges the image but decreases the quality. The same effect can be reached using photo editing software on a computer, which makes this feature somewhat useless.

Optical Zoom
Uses the camera's lens to physically magnify the image without affecting its quality.

Aperture Range
Measures the amount of light that is let in by the camera's lens. The range value is calculated by the ratio of the equivalent focal length of the lens to its diameter. E.g. 35mm lens with a 5mm diameter will have an aperture of f7. The larger the f number, the smaller the aperture in turn allowing in less light.
Example:
F1.4, F2.8: Good for pictures in low level lighting
F3.5, F4.5: Good for pictures in medium level lighting
F8, F11: Good for pictures in well lit environment
