or "Loneliness is too good a link, but the good can kill"
What the phrase implies is that you can use loneliness or solitude to link yourself to something (or even someone), but too much loneliness can kill you.
Mexican phrases have many times a double sense. I guess this is such a case, because you can't really link with someone or something through loneliness, it rather separates you from everything. And if you stay alone for too long, it means death (at least socially).
I guess it kind of resonates with "No man is an island".
