It has 2 meanings:

1/ (too tolerant) soft, lax
2/ (gen) over-lenient person

[Under "Religious", I found "laxist" for both meanings. But I've never used it in a religious way, so I have no idea what it means exactly. Anyway, I don't think it really matters.]

To be "laxist" is to let things go without managing.
It can be a mother that let her son does anything he wants, for exemple.
