Well very few lads here are speaking english right now:))
about 60% of the frenchs are against feeling they 'll loose they almighty rights to intervene in everything and nothing
in fact europe is so diverse, that it's a very difficult topic.
in E.U. only Belgians, Luxemburg, are for at 75/8O%
Italy is for also but with some 'cultural exceptions'(at around 6O%-65%)
East European are more for NATO than for Europe, see Poland, Slovakia, Latvia...
Estonia and czek are for...
Germany is for but still struggling with former DDR restructuration...
Norway, denmark, Finland are against as England.
Norway Denmark and England(U.K) are even against the euro, and keep theirs currencies.
Don't forget Europe has been at war since 1OOOyears
at least 2 times each century 1 against another
Still now, antagonism are strong btw english and french(mainly for historical reasons) and germany is still looked at, as WW II caused more than 42 millions deaths...

Opposite to the US situation were i lived 2 years, there isn't a feeling as "Europe is a country" but rather a loose
federation, and also US (despite they deny it) are against a strong united europe for economical and géopolitical reasons...(type ECHELON in Google)

Well it's only my idea as teacher, and well travelled lad.
Enjoy

I think it could be a good thing if the purpose isn't the end of the different nations (well I don't think it could happen actually , but that's what people fears the most I guess... )
Also, it could work only if most of the policies are really common without to forgot some specific policy for each country. At last Europe must have a unique and common executive power...
