I think you would survive in Argentina and any other country in latin America without being able to speak spanish because nowadays a lot of people in our countries speak english. In Ecuador, my country, you can find also that even new policemen have to success in some levels of english -as a requirement to be fulfilled before getting their degrees- which allows them to communicate with foreigners. As inmediately as I read your question I called on the phone a few of my friends and I talked to them in english and all of them were able to respond...so, my friend, if you are thinking in travelling in Argentina and living there or in any country of latin America, do not hesitate in doing it.
I hope my answer could help you in any way but if you need more information just send me a message, I'll be happy to help in any way.
love,
Letizia

It would be easier if you learnt at least a few useful phrases in Spanish but a lot of people in touristic areas speak English. That's what they do for a living! There's a lot of foreign tourism here now that the country is so cheap for travellers from other countries.

Of course! I'm an argentinian citizen. We'll be very happy if you come to our country. You don't need to speak spanish, everybody will understand you. Nevertheless, it's a good idea to learn a few words and buy a little English/Spanish dictionary.
For further information, please contact me.
¡Buena suerte!
