Aug. 27, 2006 -- Postcard from Denmark.

Denmark is currently governed by a conservative government led by Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who, like his British counterpart Tony Blair, dotes over George W. Bush. Rasmussen governs with the support of the extreme right-wing People's Party, which rejects the foreign, non-Danish, and largely Muslim presence in the country. Danish sources report that Rasmussen may have more than neo-con beliefs in common with Bush and Blair. As with his American and British counterparts, the rumors about Rasmussen's sexual orientation swirl around Copenhagen -- a political bastion of the leftist Social Democrats. The so-called "Coalition of the Willing" of Bush, Blair, and Rasmussen appears to be more like a "Lavender Gang" of self-hating closeted gay men who are attempting to prove their machismo credentials on the killing fields of Iraq and Afghanistan.
