Sorry guys, ' verde ' should read 'vede'. So this I guess means 'nothing is seen without light'? Thanks for all your help!

But maybe there is a spelling mistake:
1) Nessuna cosa VEDE senza la luce
(Nothing can to see without light)
2) Nessuna cosa E' verde senza la luce
(Nothing is green without light)
The problem is the subject of the sentence
1) if the verb is VEDI, the subject is you, so: You can't see anything without light
2) if the verb is VEDE, the subject is nessuna cosa (nothing), so: Nothing can see without light
3) Nothing is seen without light is traslated by: Nessuna cosa è (or viene) VISTA senza la luce (is a passive form), but this is a litteral translation nessuna cosa può essere vista (in English nothing can be seen) senza luce is better. Nessuna cosa vedi senza la luce sounds very wrong.

you can't see anything without light. I guess this is the equivalent but your phrase was confused. Are you sure it was right?

Are you sure that the third word is "veRde"? It could have more sense without "R", so "vede".
The meaning WITH R is:
"Nothing green without the light" /"Nothing is green without the light"
The meaning WITHOUT R is:
"Nothing sees (maybe "can see") without the light". (If it's dark, nothing and nobody can see anything)

sorry, but you're sure that you have written the sentence in the right way.. because as lost84 said before, it doesn't mean anything.. it's possible that the quot is " nessuna cosa vede senza la luce" ? in this case the translation is " nothing can see without light"
