+++Is that strong enough? I can't speak German, but I wanted to know what Germans think. Thank you!

"Massive protests at Bush visit planned
30 organizations want to protest against US president George W. Bush’s policies during his visit to Germany in July. Under the motto “Not welcome, Mr. President”, the organizer expects demonstrators from all over Germany." -- 07/07/06 "Spiegel"

I'm not American, by the way. Nevertheless, if one million Germans will demonstrate, shouldn't the slogan be a strong as can be?

Ebie, what do you think about:

DEMOCRACY, NOT DEMOCRATIZATION!!!

(I saw it on some old footage of a demonstration against the Vietnam war).

Ordinary people have been told to stay indoors. All shops in the town's historic market have been shut, and cars, rubbish bins and flowerpots have been removed. "It's a bit like Communist East Germany again," said Monty Schädel, spokesman for Germany's Peace Association, one of 45 groups protesting against Mr Bush's visit under the slogan 'Not welcome, Mr President!'. --THE GUARDIAN

I agree with the others - it's not strong enough, becuase it is not specific. Anyone reading that can easily think the person who wrote it (or is holding the sign) is simply Anti-American; that makes it easy for them to then ignore it.

If you think Bush isn't welcome, write why! Try things like:

- Against your foreign policy, Mr. President
- Democracy can't be forced, Mr. President
- Democracy starts at home - fair trial for Guantanamo prisoners

Why don't you think up short sentences that express why you don't think Bush is welcome, or that you most want him to see - and then put them to a vote here?

Democracy not Democratization sounds like a good one - what do the others think?

Borgatatrullo makes a good point in German - saying that Saddam Hussein will be put to death for killing hundreds of civilians - but how many has Mr. Bush killed?

Also ich als ganz kleiner wenn auch dicker Teil des Deutschen Volkes hab Bush nicht eingeladen. Also laßt den Kriegspieler in den USA dort hat er genug Probleme zu lösen. Und was uns das wieder kostet

No, its too soft.. no one would believe, that such slogan can change anything. Bush needs so much more... he is not a man for words I think.. he understands only his own language.. wich one? Ask people in Iraq.. Afghanistan.. etc....

no matter what the motto is...... protest like this is not strong enough in case you want to change anything. or do you think that even a million german protesters would change ANYTHING in your administration´s behaviour? i dont.
