(Hebrews 10:26-27) There is a certain fearful expectation of judgment and there is a fiery jealousy that is going to consume those in opposition.
It's fascinating to meditate on the fact that few persons at the time knew the prophecies of the Hebrew Scriptures better than the Sadducees and Pharisees, especially related to the Messiah. Yet, they apparently were unable to help themselves from working to fulfill many of those prophecies and thus prove that Jesus was indeed the Christ, the Messiah.
Were Christ's enemies motivated by self-importance? Yes.
...(John 11:47-48) Consequently the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the Sanhedrin together and began to say: “What are we to do, because this man performs many signs? If we let him alone this way, they will all put faith in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”
Were Christ's enemies motivated by some unseen force of evil? Yes.
...(John 8:42-44) Jesus said to them: “...Why is it you do not know what I am speaking? Because you cannot listen to my word. You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father.
Yet, the bible makes it clear that at least some of those Jewish persecutors of Christ and Christianity actually had pure motives, misguided because they needed to learn the truth (see 1 Timothy 1:12-14). Jehovah's Witnesses hope that the enemies of God and Christ are merely misguided, and hope that these enemies recognize that true Christianity is about "good news" rather than arguments and attacks, or bitterness and venom.
It is true that Jehovah's Witnesses are not loved by everyone.
http://jw-media.org/newsroom/human_rights.htm
Some people hate Jehovah's Witnesses out of ignorance, or over some misunderstanding. A few may have had a bad personal experience with an individual who claimed to be a Jehovah's Witness, and prejudicially extended their animus to this entire Christian religion.
However, it seems that the majority of anti-Witness hatred is motivated by religious intolerance and bigotry. A few may even be motivated against their Christian worship by the unseen 'god of this system of things', Satan the Devil.
(2 Corinthians 4:4) the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers
Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:
(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

Why would I be afraid of Jehovah's Witnessess if I am one? They won't shoot you, and they definately won't bite. All we do is knock on people's door to preach to people of all backgrounds about God's Kingdom that will also rule over all the earth and replace these present governments and will last forever (Daniel 2:44). It's the only hope of mankind and will bring lasting healing and benefits to mankind who choose to live in harmony with Bible principles (John 5:28,29; Rev 21:3-5; Ps 37:9-11,29). We're also fufilling Bible prophecy that Jesus told to his disciples at Matt 24:14: "And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come." -Have a good day!

I am a Catholic and am not ashamed to be one, i guess some people just cant stand conversing with Jehovah's Witnesses because they know that they are deep in the Bible. Maybe they are not that comfortable discussing topics they are not really familiar... I am satisfied with mine so I am open to many sects and faith...

It seems that most people although they affirm that they are Christians, when a Jehovah's Witness comes to talk to them about the Bible which is God's word, they take it as an offense. This attitude shows a lack of interest for spiritual things.
Preaching the good news about the Kingdom is a Christian obligation. True Christians' lives and the lives of those around them depend on it. We should consider Paul's words and example:
"If, now, I am declaring the good news, it is no reason for me to boast, for necessity is laid upon me. Really, woe is me if I did not declare the good news!" -- 1 Corinthians 9:16
"... I have become all things to people of all sorts, that I might by all means save some. But I do all things for the sake of the good news, that I may become a sharer of it with [others]." -- 1 Corinthians 9:22,23

Trust me people are not scared of you, they hide and turn the light's of and pretend that they are not home because Jehovah's Witnesses for what ever reason don't know how to take the hit that people don't want or like begin preached to. I'm sorry if this upsets you but I have my beliefs and I'm stick-in to then despite what you tell me. (I have family that are Jehovah, Christan, Catholics and Atheist I get along with all of them once it was made clear the religion wasn't what made us family, we became that much closer.)

Adam's Rib is right. People do want to enjoy life and not have to worry about conscious and all that other worldly burdens. But to add more to it; JW's got a "bad reputation" from the world. They are known to be "cults and there is a scary thing about "no windows". They are known to cold people because on a life and death situation, they will choose to end their life or their child's life on the operating table. They are known to be the "false prophet's" that keeps lying about the day of Armageddon. They are considered "heartless" because they tear family apart by the rules of "disfellowship". Etc................
Well, those are the most popular reasons here in R&S. The world has painted them an "off black" color. People hear it and so believe it. Especially when it is 7 out of 10 saying these things. Rumor has it.

You are always afraid of what you dont understand. I was like that to until I took the time to actually listen to what they teach. It is all true, plus the Bible clearly states Jesus is the SON of God. This is something many dont accept.

Good question, I think people would have good reason to fear you because you have an advantage with your debate tactics and enough Greek in your studies -- or references anyway -- to say things not at all in line with the intent of the writers. Yet you have the capacity to win a debated point through use of scripture "proof texts" that can present a formidable challenge to those who have only a rudimentary knowledge of Scripture (but nevertheless a saving faith).
Yes, it's scary when people come to the door with false religion that gets them confused and unsure of what they should be VERY sure about. They ARE correct, you are there to convince them they are wrong. And you sometimes pick up converts in spite of your error.
You asked.

It doesn't scare people really, it annoys them.
I grew up being a Jehovah's Witness, I personally would never go back. Religion is something special to people; and when you guy's go door to door saying that their belief's are false and they are basically going to hell, I can honestly say nobody will like you.
There are many different religions out there, and no matter which one you are in, when somebody preaches and says theirs is what should be and degrades you, it's not a basis to get people to like you. People believe what they want and what they think is true. That's something everybody needs to realize.
