I was in kindergarten. I had no idea what the wtc or the pentagon was. When my teacher came running in to turn on the tv with 5 other teachers I saw the smoke and thought it was a volcano and started to brag that I knew what volcanos were. I saw my mom in the school hall with thousands of other parents picking thier kids up. She told me everythong and took me to Wendy's. When I got home I put a flag on my window and prayed to the people who died and thier families. I was 5

I had just graduated high school that summer. My job that I was working at, the position ended and they were creating a new position for me but it was going to take 2 weeks so I kinda had a vacation. Well it was like the 3rd day of that 2week period and I feel asleep that night before w/the tv on and I woke up shortly after it happened cuz I could hear on the tv what was going on in my sleep. I woke up to see one of the towers w/smoke coming out of it, the second tower hadn't even been hit yet. I still remember I thought I was dreaming, even the reporters on the channel I was watching were speechless, they would start to talk and would just lose train of thought becuse of total shock. My dad called from work to tell me but I had already seen it. I remember it really bothered my dad as we talked on the phone, and he told me to say a prayer, cuz this was bad, real bad. We don't even know anybody in NY but this was something that truly sent a heart felt shock wave through all of the country.......

My cousin who lives on the West coast called me at like 5 am her time and we talked for a while and exactly at the time the 2nd plane slammed into the towers our phones went dead, just for that moment, we got right back on the phone after that. I had the radio on and heard that the WTC had been attacked, but I thought it was like it got attacked in '93 and thought it was a little plane. We talked for like 3 hours before we realized what really happened. My cousin told me to turn on the tv and that's when I saw what was going on.

I was in my office, two blocks from the Sears Tower (later known to be another possible target).
I saw the 1st plane go in on my co worker's mini tv and said: That's no accident. He and his secretary could not understand how I knew. I had no time to explain my tactical expertize before the second plane hove into the other building. The secretary went hysteric and was sent home. I phoned my boss and told him the options, and he sent me home. I still can't sit and watch the footage--it breaks me up too much. I have friends who are policemen

I was in my living room folding clothes and watching tv when it happened and I remember running to the computer just hoping to get in touch with family that I have in New York and Penn. The internet was horribly slow that day, and I cried all day until I heard from them that all was fine where they were. I wouldn't let go of my kids when they got home from school that day.

I was a young 18-19 year old at University in Australia. I saw the explosion, then went to calculus, then came out and watched the tragedy unfold thinking "this is going to get a lot of innocent people killed'.

Aww, I was in 3rd grade at the time. I had no idea what the WTC was either. Surprisingly, no one really came rushing into our classrooms. But New York isn't really that close to me, I live in central New Jersey.

I was at work and I'll never forget it. I got mad at my boss because he wouldn't let us watch it on tv, so I went to pick up my kids and went home to watch the news, almost lost my job, but his response was we've got a business to run..
