Yes and no. Yes, it is possible for several people to rush a cow and knock it over. However, if you walk up to a cow and start pushing on it, it will just walk away- or kick, if you're not lucky.

However, knocking a cow over like that can break it's legs, cause internal damage and maybe even death of a cow. If the cow is pregnant - not always easy to tell earlier on- it can cause miscarriage and even death of both mother and baby.

It's why the ranchers in the college town where I used to live used to patrol their fields in the fall, before the cows were moved to winter pasture. And why in Colorado is is a felony offense.

Impossible, Emily? Did you read the article you posted? Here's a quote from it, saying just what I did -
“The static physics of the issue say . . . two people might be able to tip a cow,” she said. “But the cow would have to be tipped quickly — the cow’s centre of mass would have to be pushed over its hoof before the cow could react.”

From what I hear, one person can do it if you get the right spot. However, you must be very fast because the cows really wake up in a foul mood and will run over your crazy butt.

Question about cow tipping. Do people still give 15% or is 20% more the norm?

Hey, where is, I Need More Cowbell at? He should be here answering this one.

You just make me remember something that still makes me grin from ear to ear. I grew up in farm country and my bro and male teenage cousins decided to give this a try once when I was a kid - turns out cows can move pretty fast when they feel like it - and avoiding slipping on and landing in fresh cow manure - repeatedly - in a field full of it while chasing a cow is kind of tough in the semi-dark.

I suppose cow tipping is possible, but suspect it is a not-so-urban myth and one of those things that is funny in theory but not in practice - I remember by uncle and aunt laughing (trust me, no one could help it), but they were pretty pissed too because one of the cows could have been hurt - or one of the boys kicked or stepped on.

Grow a brain, and then learn to do math. You weigh what? The cow weighs what? Can you punt an 18 wheeler like a football? Can you Preacher Curl a Toyaota? If you were really curious, you would have tried it, and then not had to ask the question.

I did it once, tripped on her hind leg and fell with the milk bucket. . . .oh, you said "tip" over a cow!! !!!. You mean to shove one off it's feet, ugh, hooves?
Well, now, I'd like to see that done; I don't think one person could do it ( without mechanical help). A cow weighs an awful lot and they don't like going down until they are ready to go down!

Oo,arr, cow tipping is a Friday night sport after you have had a few drinks.
You just reach under and grabs the legs on the other side.
and PULL.
10 points for rolling it down a hill.
LOL!

You can't really tip a cow over but if you push it hard enough they will trip over thier own feet and fall down.

the easyest way is to go to a farm at night and bring a blow horn and go up to a cow/cows and first make sure they are asleep and set the blow horn of in there ear and run like there is a thousand hot naked chicks at your house but normally people just tip them with there hands.....not that i have ever done it...WINK WINK
