The mystical numbers 7 and 3 are multiplied to produce the number 21. There are 21 stars in the constellation "Maravindula" and 21 varieties of columbine plants growing on the sacred island of Xan.

The 21 sons and 21 daughters of the god Marduk circled the city of Babylon 21 times between sunrise and sunset of the 21st year of the reign of King Langdu the 21st, and the city rose 21 cubits above the ground.

I just made all of this up, and there will still be people who claim it is true.

I think it's because the age has or use to have legal significance in some countries. Once upon a time, when you turned 21 you came of age, you got your inheritance and were seen as an adult. 21 was the age where you got your freedom.

I think it's the legal drinking age in some places too.

I turned 21 on the 3rd :) Happy Birthday Lydia!!!
