Christian bookshops are refusing to stock copies of a new Bible study guide that challenges standard New Testament translations that describe gay sex as sinful.

A US distributor, God’s Word to Women, has banned the Australian publication, and withdrawn another Bible translation published by the same NSW publishing house, Smith and Stirling, for promoting a lifestyle in contradiction of the scriptures
1 Corinthians 6:9 and Timothy 1:10 Paul sets out examples of Jewish law including admonitions against fornication, idolatry and drunkenness, as well as the much disputed word “arsenokoites” which has been taken to mean homosexuality.

But in her study guide, Dr Nyland says the word has been wrongly assumed to mean homosexual.
The reference in Romans, and the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, were about angels having sex with humans, and not about homosexual acts
Satan in the Church again??

I thought Soddom and Gommoragh was about rape, prostitution and angels having illegitamate human children...seems reasnable enough.

It doesn't seem a 'gay study bible' anyhow, just a less hatefull interpretation, it annoys me when you people get your panties in a pinch because things aren't homophobic enough for you.

A distributor can decline to stock a book ... they can't 'ban' it as you state.

I have no idea what you are going on about, other than that a Bible has been published which corrects the erroneous translation of “arsenokoites”as homosexual; and also makes clear that the Sodom and Gomorrah story is nothing to do with homosexuality.

So, what actually IS your point?

The reference in Sodom and Gomorrah was not about angels having sex with humans . That was addressed in the story of Noah's ark. In fact the 2 angels in your reference to Romans were there to destroy those cities because of unnatural sex acts. Since the angels had the power to destroy those cities (which they eventually did) the angels were never really in danger of that eventuality. Anyone that would perceive Nyland's book as credible at all is in need of SERIOUS supervision.

Most scholars believe the word in question refers to male prostitution, not homosexuals per se. In other words, it's not the gay that's a sin, it the prostitution that is.

Stoned any witches lately? The Bible commands believers to do this, too.

Never heard of a gay study Bible. I guess those that would be carrying them are gay people. I think it's a good thing, especially since I know there are gay and lesbian Christians out there. Also because even though I'm not religious I'm also a bisexual male.

Thats not the only part of the Bible that says homosexuality is a sin....Leviticus 19 also talks about this.

Your details don't really seem to ask a question, so to answer the question you asked:

I presume a gay study Bible would be a Bible with annotations and articles geared towards gays. I further presume it would be carried by a gay Christian.

Homosexuality and all politics aside, a business should be able to sell what they want when they want. If anyone decides not to stock an item, so what? It is up to their business acumen to decide this.
