You can not, at that point the person is ignoring what you are saying anyway. If he or she says stop talking, he/she completely disagrees and no amount of talking will change that. That person does not want to hear your opinion or thought or explanation or excuse, that person has already formulated his/her belief and it is nothing close to what you are saying.
Now there is one other side, say for example you are talking while this person is trying to hear something he or she considers important, maybe a phone number to call right now and get this book free with purchase of this video tape. You may get a rude "shut up, stop talking, quiet, or listen!" this is because you are blotting out what he/she may have been waiting to hear. It is not because you are not important although it sure can make you feel that way, trust me I had heard that from my parents for years when I wanted to say something and something was going on on tv apparently important to one of them and I get "Listen! or Shut Up!, or Quiet!" Then after it is over I get asked "now what did you want to say?"
