Back off the car in front so you aren't having to constantly tap your brakes. Anticipate the traffic lights, when possible. Release the gas when you see a light is red and coast up to it. Sometimes this will even allow you to not stop as the light will turn green before you have to stop. When sitting in a line at a drive up window, turn the engine off. Less gas required to restart than to idle for 3-5 minutes. Drop your highway speed. In three hours of driving, 70MPH will only put you 30 miles further down the road than 60 will and will cost you 10% more gas usage. Save up errands and do several in one outing rather than multiple runs. It is indeed the little, simple things which make a difference.

I used to be a real petrol head and just go mad. Now at 31 i have decided i am no longer a boy racer :( I am becoming a man WOW... I generally keep my speed between 65 mph and 70 mph although i have 6 speed gearbox it makes no difference try and drive to where you are keeping your revs to under 3000rpm at 65 in my mazda 6 2.0 i sit at 2500 rpm and have noticed a considerable difference in fuel. Also i never use my cruise control as for some reason i believe it uses more petrol. I use Air-Con only when neccesery what i tend to do is leave vents open and on a very low temperature which does keep the car comfy. 1. Accelerate slowly if you can change straight from 2nd to 4th gear. 2. Brake Gently 3. Ensure tyre pressures are correct 4. Service at regular intervals.

1. check air pressure on tires every gas fill up or every other
2. keep oil changed at every 3,000 or 3 months as recommended.
3. keep windows up as often as possible
4. keep A/C off as much as possible.
5. remove every last item from the vehicle that is not needed
6. combine trips as much as possible, if on way home from work, do shopping then, not a separate trip later that night or on weekends.
7. drive with cruise control on the freeway everywhere you go
8. drive the speed limit, max of 5 over, the slower you go, the less gas it takes
9. ensure air filter is clean and replaced regularly, a car that breaths easy burns fuel more efficient.
10. ensure plugs, wires, cap, button are in good working order. a plug miss firing can cause gas not to be burned, in turn lagging power, in turn making you push harder on peddle in turn wasting more n more, never ending cycle.

Slow down
Set tire pressure to correct PSI
Remove unnecessary weight
Accelerate slowly
Decelerate slowly
Keep your vehicle maintained, tune up, oil and filter changes, change air filter as needed.
Plan your trips
No long idle or warm up. When your car is sitting in the driveway warming up, it is getting zero miles per gallon. It doesn't get any worse than that. With mult-viscosity oil such as 5W30, you can drive your car immediately, even when it is below zero Fahrenheit. But only if your windows are free of frost.

You can get a air intake pipe kit with a airfilter, I would NOT modfiy the exhaust with most modern cars... There are different chips out there available for most cars that will improve mileage... A cool can for your fuel lines, water injection can help you out if your car will advance the timing automaticly once it figures out its on there...

The easiest, cheapest, safest and most effective way to save fuel is by driving slower. Also keep your tires about 10% higher pressure than specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

I have had good results in quite a few (but not all) vehicles with a Tornado. Also a cold-air intake system, if they make it for your car, usually helps quite a bit.
