I broke up with my ex-boyfriend over 6 months ago. This is my first Christmas/Thanksgiving alone in 4 years. As much as I knew breaking up with him was for the best I feel like things are still going downhill. He got a new girlfriend who he is happy with while I'm alone and having to sit through the holidays with a family in which every person has someone to spend it with. I'm not in college anymore, so meeting a new guy has been very difficult and I haven't managed to do it. Has anyone ever felt sad like this? How did you make it through, especially the holidays, alone? I just need something to get me happy and motivated...

Gte a new bf. But this time make sure hes right for you. Take youre time this time. Don't settle for second best. Open up your options..and be careful about openning yourself up until your sure hes worth it.

The holidays are always rough after a break up. You will meet someone soon though. Just keep a positive attitude and improve your life while you have this time to just focus on yourself. I would start working out, lose some weight, buy some new cloths, get a haircut, learn a new hobby, etc. Anything that is going to make you feel better about yourself and your future. Online dating services can be fun also.

This is not the best answer...but it works and I've done it. Just find anyone..ANYONE..single and hang out through out the holidays..up till the new year..then go separate ways.

You can get the person to agree to this...or just use them. LOTS of people are alone for the holidays...and LOTS of them don't want to be. So a temporary hook-up for a couple months works out good.

Keep your head up and don't think of him, as hard as that is to do. Enjoy this time of the year with family. Don't think about being alone, think about being blessed to be with the ones you love because life on this earth is very short. And be patient, apparently this guy wasn't right for you. Take this time off to enjoy being single for a while and find new hobbies and go out with friends. Don't jump in to anything right away as it will most likely end in disaster. Just smile, keep your head up and live.

I'm going through the same thing this year, and the only thing I have found that helps is to just concentrate on something or someone else. I am going to make this Christmas one for my sons to remember, that is my concentration this year. Find your concentration point and stick on it. I'm not saying that it is easy, but you can make it happen. And the more you concentrate on something else, you don't give yourself time to be sad. Just don't think about it, I know, easier said than done. Good luck to you!

guess what? this is the first christmas im going to spend with someone special, for the past 23 years i spent it alone, it was lonely yeah, but i was able to spend it with my family, which is great too, and also with friends, who were able to make the occasion special, just focus on th positive things and not the negative things, because you are single you will be able to spend more time with your good ol family, relatives and friends!

Yes it is normal to be sad. Try exercising, which will give you natural endophins and energy, and will help you get happy and motivated. You might even meet someone at the gym!

Guys move on faster than women...You'll meet someone great one day, it could be at a place like walmart or target. But he's out there waiting for you to come find him.
