It's the utmost in stupidity that they thought they could create a democratic oasis in a country with a majority population that consists of fundamentalist Shia muslims. Democracy can't exist without freedom from religion. Iraq was doomed to fail (democratically) before they set foot in the country.

Iraq war was a debacle for the Republicans who are expected to lose in 2008.
VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know who will be the Democrat who will likely win.

No, we went in to try to develop a larger military footprint in the oil rich region(and also so that multinational oil conglomerates, who fund both the democrats and republicans, could have access to these oil fields). We should have spent all this money (est at 1 trillion now) to develop an energy infrastructure based on alternatives to oil.

BS. They were just to lazy to actually look into their own sources. But anyway, whether we went into Iraq or not for the right reasons is moot now. We need to finish the job, of which the surge is accomplishing.

bush was following the dictates of AIPAC and the Israeli / Zionists mindset of total Muslim destruction . what the Germans tried to do to the Jews , the Jews are now trying to do to the Muslim world . i have no idea why bush wants to fight Israel's war .
